Route JEWEL OF ART AND SPIRITUALITYCan a village enclose art treasures and places of worship worthy of a city? Campli yes!
You will enter the imposing East Gate of the village of Campli to find out just after the singular double church of San Giovanni Battista . Driving along streets lined with noble residences of several ages, adorned with typical porches stone and traditional terracotta decorations. We reach the Main Square , where you face since the Middle Ages, the Public Palace and the former cathedral of Santa Maria in Platea. Paintings and sculptures we speak of a tradition that binds Campli in Rome, because the Abruzzo town since 1776 is home to a Scala Santa : a building that replicates, in small size, this monumental structure at San John Lateran . We will, therefore, the way back.
